The inadvertent expatriate blogger behind Warm Trail Balance

Hello, I am Anna
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't in the grand plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores seemed tougher than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, unease, and a great deal of learning through doing. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Warm Trail Balance
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site is here to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- This site provides practical insights from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not an official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Switzerland goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Anna
